R.I.P. Cliff Burton ( Sept. 27th, 1986 )Good-Bye
Jason Newsted Longtime Bassist Jason Newsted Exits Metallica Due To "Private And Personal Reasons, And Physical Damage"
Statement From The Members Of Metallica
Metallica regrets to announce that after 14 years as Metallica's bass player, Jason Newsted has chosen to leave the band.
Jason Newsted: " Due to private and personal reasons, and the physical damage that I have done to myself over the years while playing the music that I love, I must step away from the band. This is the most difficult decision of my life, made in the best interest of my family, myself, and the continued growth of Metallica. I extend my love, thanks, and best wishes to my brothers: James, Lars, and Kirk and the rest of the Metallica family, friends, and fans whom have made these years so unforgettable."
Newsted joined Metallica from Flotsam And Jetsam in the fall of 1986 after the tragic death of bassist Cliff Burton. He participated in the recording of 6 Metallica albums (…And Justice For All, Metallica, Load, Re-Load, Garage Inc., and S&M), which have sold over 55 million copies worldwide to date. In addition, he played on numerous worldwide tours to millions of fans representing over 1000 gigs in all. While with Metallica, the band won countless awards including 5 Grammy Awards and 2 MTV Video Music Awards.
James Hetfield: " Playing with someone who has such unbridled passion for music will forever be a huge inspiration. On stage every night, he was a driving force to us all, fans and band alike.
His connection will never be broken."
Lars Ulrich: "We part ways with Jason with more love, more mutual respect, and more understanding of each other than at any other point in the past. James, Kirk and I look forward to embracing the next chapter of Metallica with both a huge amount of appreciation for the last 14 years with Jason and the excitement of rising to the challenges that lay ahead to make Metallica shine brighter than ever."
In the spring, Metallica will begin writing and recording a new studio album
with release sometime in late 2001 or early 2002.
Kirk Hammett: " Jason is our brother. He will be missed."

Hey i was just wondering who is into metallica Because i don't think they r that good i was wondering if anybody else shares my thoughts. (im going to get abused for this) Metallica used to play in small bars, then their music wasn't too bad - now...they are too commercial. JazTJ Edited The Quote

[glow=HotPink,2,300] ;D 8-)WOW, I went to the concert and Corkman and Jaz you know they are really talked about in a way that isn't good lol. You compare Live shows that are on DVD and yet you say you know that they are really crapy Live, Yes I was critical on my assumptions on how the band is LIVE and they litteraly blew me away!! I will never talk bad about James's singing and the bands performance again because if you've never seen them Live recently you are definitely wrong and missin' out on something extremely frickn' amazing here! . The band played songs from the first album to the most recent and there was pyro that would make your heart stop beating and then beat again! The energy was truly adrenalizing, along with the vocals and the bass, guitars and drums! These guys were definitely worth my money and time, I mean the guys played an extra hour just because they cared about our love and appreciation for them being there to ROCK our worlds!! I think there show has been the best by far that I have had the privilage of seeing and Godsmack as well. Well I'll fill in more with other details, but right now I am going to sleep lol, my energy is all gone because of Godsmack and most of all a true Kick Ass Metal band called METALLICA ;D Ps, btw they also took the time out to talk to the crowd and shake hands, give peepz their pick's and drumsticks out. Jame's was saying that we all were in his hearts and the bands too because everytime they are in the city that they played they have an enormas support of fans and appreciation and they even thank'd the crowd for all the love when we all should have been thanking them! They played 6 years ago where I saw them in concert last night and they said they will definitely be coming back because Saskatoon Rocks!! WOW that was the most Energetic concert that I will never forget in my entire life, you don't like Metallica BOOOOOO I now do so YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY ;D [/glow]

In curious to what type of stage they had on this tour.
Was it a snake pit? or just the traditional style stage?

[/glow] G'day I think it works the best when the stage is in the middle of the areana, get more people around the actual stage more intense aswell (not that I would know). lol thats awesome about the people fainting lol, well not for them but it you walk away from a heavy concert and you were in the pit, you better have some marks to show for it.

[glow=HotPink,4,300]Yeah the arena was awesome in the middle cause everyone could see the band that's the best idea ever . You are right about havin' marks to show you were in the pit it was huge and wish I had marks to show it, but I probably would have been trampled over and carried away lol. I had seat tickets, so unfortunatly I didn't have the privilage of being bashed around maybe next time though I sure hope you won't mind me posting from the hospital telling you how awesome it was in the pit if they ever come around again lmaro ;D [/glow]

I'm not ashamed to say that Metallica kicks arse:( Not keen on last few LP's though but would still see them live as I've heard they rock live still! I'm not like the net ppl that are sheep & follow what everyone else is doing/saying about bands. I like to have a listen to new bands & form my own opinions! As for Metallica, yeah they've mellowed out but what band hasn't done this? The Black album rocks & I don't give a flying hoodla what anyone says
