A tip for true-crime-freaks : the author Ann Rule writes great books about serial-killers, famous murders, etc.

Another great book I read was about the Fred and Rosemary West-case. Forget the author unfortunately, very long time ago. The Wests are that British couple who murdered many young girls and buried them in their house and garden.

[glow=blue,2,300] I love true crime books and I have to agree Anne Rule is by far the best writer for those types of books but that is just my opinion ... lol. I have read the true crime about Karla Holmolka and Paul Bernardo and that was definitely a page turner. But unlike most people I don't think she was as innocent as she claims to be. I still cant believe she gets out this year. [/glow]

TJ AND I HAD QUITE A FEW TALKS ABOUT THIS BOOK AND THE OTHER ONE ABOUT KARLA HOMOLKA AND PAUL BERNARDO BOTH OF US FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT HER ... LIKE TJ WAS SAYING HOW CAN A PERSON WITH A HIGHER I-Q THAN MOST PEOPLE NOT REALISE WHAT THEY WERE DOING WAS WRONG IM GOING TO PM TJ AFTER THIS POST TO TELL HER SOMEONE ELSE IS POSTING ABOUT OUR HOT TOPIC UNREAL THAT SHE IS GETTING OUT NEXT MONTH JUST NOT RIGHT !!! SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING SHE HAS PAID HER DUES AND WILL BECOME SOCIETY AGAIN BUT SHE HASNT TAKEN PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP WHILE IN JAIL SO HOW IS SHE REFORMED ? Hi was just browsing , think i might have to get a hold of this book, sounds like a interesting one, I'm into Kathy Reichs as I think she brings some of her forescenics work into her written stuff a little bit, anymore suggestions of real life stories (esp crime) would be helpful for when I'm book shopping next time.

First off Karla Homolka will be getting out of prison after 10yrs for murdering 2 highschool aged girls & her own little sister... She has not recieved any type of counselling or acceptance to what she has done with her now ex-husband Paul Bernardo (Serial rapist for many years in Scarborough, Ontario) to then kipnapping/sex torture/slayings of children...With her I-Q, find it hard to believe that she was this naive & to drug, do cunnilingis on her sister while she lay on the basement floor dying from the veternarian drug Karla gave her is just SICK I cannot fathom how it's possible she is getting out of jail in less than a few wks here She got 8yrs for kidnapping/sex torturing/killing those 2 girls Leslie Mahaffy & Kristen French & 2yrs for her own sister. Makes me utterly sick to my stomach as a Canadian cos' our laws here are too lenient on people of this disgust!

She got a sweet deal (managed by herself with her lawyers if she testified against Paul that she'd get leniancy) Pardon my lang. but F that

Then what makes me more mad about this case was the coverage was banned from being aired/reported here in the Country it happened in ... Why should they get a fair trial.....Those girls didn't!!! If she was so abused then why did the tapes not get used in time for her trial? Stupid B**ch!!!!

Another sicko Canadian serial killer (can't think of his 1st name as I type - Pickton) the pig farmer in British Columbia, Canada is still waiting trial OMFG he murdered over 50 women from the Vancouver streets & fed them to his pigs What will he get maximum of 25yrs like our STUPID law states ... This man was on the news a few yrs prior to him being suspected of the serial killings....pleading for help for his pig farm well guess he got his help alright to upkeep his failing pig farm...Fed them women I might just create a thread on Serial killers/etc if anyone's interested sounds kinda funny but it's interesting to read what you all have to say

Fiona, the best book to read about the serial rapist/killers about Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka is called Lethal Marriage by Nick Pron Hard to put this book down .... Other good author's off hand are...

Robert William Pickton from Port Coquitlam, BC, worst known serial killer in Canadian history This book is about the case which trial should take place in June 2005...More women's names have been added to his charges last week.

It is assumed that he FED neighbours & friends
(guests at his wild parties on the pig farm) contaminated pork meat with Human Flesh

A recent book written on the disappearances, forensic's, etc of this case is called...A Quiet Loner By Marilyn Bardsley

A sad realisation for my own mother lastnight while searching the internet she knows one of Pickton's victims & what a way to see that she is not safe in another Province but actually murdered by this psychotic serial killer ... I don't have the name of my mom's friend till a later date but this is pretty unbelievable that we could have someone killing so many women over the years ... So they led poor lives but they are human beings not deserving to be murdered & fed to pigs Btw, some of those women on the list (60+ women missing) weren't all street induced people!

In the fall of 1989 Marc Lepine shot 14 female students & a secretary at Montreal, Quebec_University's L'Ecole Polytechnique & then shot & killed himself.

In 1982 Clifford Robert Olson pled guilty to killing 11 children in Greater Vancouver, BC. A woman actually survived being Olson's victim in late 80's to later become Pickton's victim 10yrs later ...

The last known hanging (capital punishment) in my Province was I believe to be Louis Riel in 70's...Makes a person ponder on capital punishment for serial killers in Canada or for ppl that murder more than once or one person ...

TJ, you got me out of dream, I always thought serial-killers were an American or Belgian phenomenon (like those sick bastards Dutroux, Pandy and Fourniret). Thanks for noticing those Bernardo and Homolka-couple. Things like that intrigue me, how can you bring another person so far that you can 'deliver' him victims for your own sick fantasies.
I really can't understand those things. I always think that women in general are loving, caring persons who want everyone's best and feel compassion with other people.
How can it be that a woman :
a) falls in love with such a monster (it can't take long before you find out that the man you love is a killer)
b) stay with such a man
c) co-operate with such a guy

It's really sickening to know that men who did such horrible things receive love-letters while there in prison.

Why do some women stay with abusive partners? Who knows?

I think some these women are really cleaver just lack self esteem in themselves and feel their partner is filling this gap in for them or they haven't many close friends. If any of my friends were in any kind of abusive situation I would be very clear with them and ensure they weren't in the relationship for long, honesty is the best policy.

Sometimes I cant decide whether violence is on the increase (all over the world) or the press just releases more of it, for instance today in Yorkshire 5 kids (3 boys, 2girls) age 11 and 12 have tried to strangle a 5 year old kid for kicks, hows sick is that and where do they get the idea from in the first place? Crazy World eh!
