Throughout the years, no other rock band has conquered the world and the charts like Queen. Starting in the early seventies and throughout the eighties, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon have written hit after hit. From their first number one single, Bohemian Rhapsody, to their stadium anthems, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, their music has reigned across the radio airwaves from Great Britain and Europe to the United States and Australia. They have reached audiences in South America (where they were the first rock band to embark on a stadium tour) and in Hungary (where on their Magic Tour, they played to a sell out crowd, while still under the Iron Curtain).

As the nineties approached, Queen focused their energies from touring to recording. The Miracle and Innuendo proved to be some of Queen's finest moments. They began to pick up new fans across the world, and according to many critics, were returning to the glory days of A Night at the Opera and News of the World. Unfortunately, on November 24, 1991, that new found steam came to a halt, as Freddie Mercury passed away, due to complications from AIDS.

Queen as we knew it ended that day, but the three remaining members have continued to keep the legend alive, releasing recordings such as a completion of Freddie's final recordings, Made in Heaven and brand new songs like No One But You. In 1998, Queen was one of the first bands to release a video game, The Eye, based upon their music. 2002 brought Queen's music to the stage as the musical We Will Rock You began to shatter British theater records left and right.

Although Freddie Mercury has left us, it will be a long time before his legacy and the music of Queen will be forgotten.

bhemian rhapsody was the first single i ever bought that was such an awesome song i think my favourite album has to be "a kind of magic" its the only soundtrack that could have been made to go with "Highlander" they just went so well together which i suppose isn't surprising since it was made exclusively for the film

Ok thats fair. But to tell you the truth, as good as they were, they didnt really have much of an impact on me as they did for alot of other people. Some songs are ok but there are a few which are just a bit..... err dodgy. But if they weren't formed then i know bands like Maiden and Priest and Van Halen would definetly have the number 1 spot of greatest band ever.

Hmmm now what's so bad about the band Queen?

They have some really good songs but of course they're not metal so is that what's up with Corkman not liking them at all ? Gotta tell us why you litterly want them erased from history ? I think they are in a way wiped off the boards now that Freddy Mercury died of AIDS ... Which songs of Queen's make you cringe Corkman? Tell us tell us cos I just can't understand why you'd Do Not Like this band:o ;D AND make sure you answer ALL my little questionaires in this post cos it's ONLY fair bud ;D

How could anyone not like Freddie Mercury. One of the best male voices in Rock and Roll. He had incredible range and power in his voice and never will another performer sing with such passion. My favourite Queen song is I Want To Break Free.

Suds You ROCK Chicka Most definately one of the most influential bands in history!!! No one can pull off Freddie Mercury's vocals! Queen is one of my all-time favs! It's funny you wrote " I Want To Break Free " as one of your favs cos' I was listening to it earlier today

Also mine....Since I've been to Scotland a few months ago....Everytime I hear Queen I immediately think of my time in Scotland!!! I think it has alot to do with the song....Who Wants To Live Forever...I still get a tear in my eye hearing this song .... Of course it was played in the movie Highlander which was at the castle Eilean Donan where I went ..... So, it's amazing how songs relate back to our life's journey's --- I Love It!!!!

Although I am a huge metal fan, Queen would have to be one of my favourite rock acts. Freddie mercury would of had to have been the greatest frontman of any act in the world. we will never see another freddie like we'll never see another shirl straghan(skyhooks) GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
