First off Dex   Yes there was a crap load of excellent stuff after the 80's such as painkiller which is pretty damn awesome  Ok TJ lol  I know what you mean about drumming, I can't stand it when bands just have a standard little beat but I suppose stuff like Judas Priest is far beyond that type of drumming, and stuff like Metallica has again the more advanced drumming then the 'bam bam bam' as you put it lol As for people getting kicked from bands cause they can't keep the beat, well the is usually the guitarists fault for trying to play all this fancy crap then loses focus on the drums, lol not that I even do that..........well I don't lol Defend the faith indeed Dex |

Well my idea of 'true metal' would be: Hard guitar riffs that aren't just open like nu metal  , lead guitar runs, kick arse solos or 'face melters' lol , a drummer who isn't afraid to show off his talent and doesn't just use double kickers to sound good, and actually singing meaning not just groaning into a microphone to try and be 'hard'. The chorus is the most important part good vocals that a crowd can sing along to LONG LIVE TRUE METAL |

Glam rock if we are talking about the 70,s long before a lot of the members but Sweet and Slade are still high on my fav band list and Sweet still hold my greatest ever rock guitar solo on a record. if you want to know what it is it's a song called Burning and it's the b side of a single(they were plastic things you played)called Hellraiser..............enough said
