I bought 'Citizen X' about that Russian serial-killer who operated in Rostov in the '80's. Killed about 52 people in 8 years. Great actors : Donald Sutherland (as a Russian colonel) and Stephen Rea as the detective.

Bought the movie 'K 19' the other day and watched it yesterday. It's a submarine movie about the first Russian nuclear sub 'K 19'.
The setting is in 1961, so in the Cold War -period. Liam Neeson is the sub's captain but he's critical about the sub and the Russian authorities don't like that. So he's replaced by another captain (played by Harrison Ford).
The two are quite opposite characters. Neeson is more like a father to the crew, Ford is very rigid and strict. But Neeson is now 2nd in command and he can't do anything about Fords' attitude.
The K19 departs for an important mission : they have to launch a test-missile (to find out if when it's required the can launch the real stuff on North-America). The test is a succes. But then something awful happens. One of the nuclear reactor fails (because of a leak) and starts to heat up. And because the Russian authorities didn't want to spend money on backup-systems the crew has to be very inventive to prevent a nuclear disaster.
They improvise a cooling-system; but the crew has to go into the reactor-cell where the radiation-grade is extremely high.
The rest I won't tell!
