« Reply #24 on: Nov 26th, 2003, 09:16am By: TJ » Here's to T-bone steaks, yellow roses and friendship. READ THIS!!!! & Then Re-read It! Especially The Last Part...
I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying groceries. I wasn't hungry. The pain of losing my husband of 7 years was still too raw. And this grocery store held so many sweet memories. He often came with me and almost every time he'd pretend to go off and look for something special. I knew what he was up to. I'd always spot him walking down the aisle with the three yellow roses in his hands. He knew I loved yellow roses.
With a heart filled with grief, I only wanted to buy my few items & leave, but even grocery shopping was different since he had passed on. Shopping for one took time, a little more thought than it had for two. Standing by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and remembered how he had loved his steak.
Suddenly a woman came beside me. She was blonde, slim and lovely in a soft green pantsuit. I watched as she picked up a large pack of T-bones, dropped them in her basket, hesitated, and then put them back...She turned to go and once again reached for the pack of steaks. She saw me watching her & she smiled. "My husband loves T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I don't know." I swallowed the emotion down my throat & met her pale blue eyes.
"My husband passed away eight days ago," I told her. Glancing at the package in her hands, I fought to control the tremble in my voice. "Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together." She shook her head & I saw the emotion in her eyes as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away. I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the store to the dairy products. There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I should buy. A quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice cream. If nothing else, I could always fix myself an ice cream cone. I placed the ice cream in my cart & looked down the aisle toward the front.
I saw first the green suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming towards me. In her arms she carried a package. On her face was the brightest smile I had ever seen. I would swear a soft halo encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes holding mine. As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears began misting in my eyes.
"These are for you," she said & placed three beautiful long stemmed yellow roses in my arms. "When you go through the line, they will know these are paid for." She leaned over & placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, then smiled again.
I wanted to tell her what she'd done, what the roses meant, but still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded my vision. I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green tissue wrapping & found it almost unreal. How did she know? Suddenly the answer seemed so clear. I wasn't alone. Oh, you haven't forgotten me, have you? I whispered, with tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his angel.
Everyday Be Thankful For What You Have & Wo You Are!
This is a simple request. If you appreciate life, send this to your friends, including the person that sent it to you.
Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings. Thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible. Thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.
Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising. Thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.
Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burnt & tempers are short, my children are so loud.
Thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.
Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines & the menu is at times unbalanced. Thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.
Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.
Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest. Thank you, Lord, for life.
Pass this on to the friends you know. It might help a bit to make this world a better place to live, right? A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone to treasure.
For friendship is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our lives with Beauty, Joy and Grace and makes the world we live in a better and happier place.
YOU ARE MY FRIEND! Now send this to every friend you have & don't forget me.=-----------------------------------------------------------------=
I Had To Put This In The Dungeon Cos When I Recieved This I Felt It Needed To Be Shared With All Of You...
If You Don't Believe In The Lord, Then Take Whatever You Do Believe & Say Thanks Your Way...

[glow=red,2,300]Before I Was A Mom: [/glow]
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom - I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Spit on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom - I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests. ; Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom - I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.
But now I am a Mom - And I cherish every memory, every feeling and every minute I get to spend with my children, I count my blessings everyday, and I thank God for bringing my children into my life!
Copy and Send this to someone who you think is a special Mom/Mom-to-be or Grandma.
And remember that behind every successful mother......is a basket of dirty laundry! ;D ;D ;D

« Reply #27 on: Dec 5th, 2003, 11:15am By: JAZ »[glow=red,2,300] THE BOX[/glow] The story goes that some time ago a mother punished her five year old daughter for wasting a roll of expensive good wrapping paper. Money was tight and she became even more upset when the child used the gold paper to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her mother the next morning and said, "This is for you, Momma."
The mother was embarrassed by her earlier over-reaction but her anger flared again when she opened the box and found it was empty.
She spoke to her daughter in a harsh manner. "Don't you know, young lady, when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the package?"
She had tears in her eyes and said, "Oh Momma, it's not empty! I blew kisses into it until it was full." The mother was crushed. She fell to her knees and put her arms around the little girl and she begged her for forgiveness for her thoughtless anger.
An accident took the life of the child only a short time later, and it is told that the mother kept that gold box by her bed for all the years of her life.
Whenever she was discouraged or faced difficult problems, she would open the box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there. In a very real sense, each of us, as human beings, have been given a Golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends, and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold. Friends are like angels who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly. PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID OR WHAT YOU SAID BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL

I'm not a poetry-lover, but the next poem by W.H Auden I love a lot. Maybe you know it from the movie 'Four wedding and a funeral'. Auden wrote it when his lover died.
Funeral blues
stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone silence the pianos and with muffled drum bring out the coffin, let the mourners come
let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead scribbling on the sky the message He is dead put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves
he was my north, my south, my east and west my working week and my sunday rest my noon, my midnight, my talk, my song I thought that love would last forever, I was wrong
the stars are not wanted now : put out every one pack up the moon and dismantle the sun pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood for nothing now can ever come to any good

There's a lot of good stuff here...
Here is something I found long ago and always kept it close...you'll see why.
[glow=red,2,300]It's not easy[/glow]
To apologize, To begin over, To be unselfish, To take advice, To admit errors, To face a sneer, To be charitable, To keep trying, To be considerable, To avoid mistakes, To endure success, To profit by mistakes, To forgive and forget, To think and then act, To keep out of a rut, To make best of little, To subdue an unruly temper, To shoulder a deserved blame, To recognize the silver lining -
But it always pays. author is anonymous

Live a Life That Matters
Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear. So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant. So what will matter ? How will the value of your days be measured ?
What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built ; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel lasting loss when you're gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice. Choose to live a life that matters.

Me again... ;D
Here is something else I like... when in doubt...
LETTING GO
To "Let go" does not mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else. To "Let go" is not to cut myself off, it’s the realization I can’t control another To "Let go" is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences. To "Let go" is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands. To "Let go" is not to try to change or blame another, it’s to make the most of myself To "Let go" is not to care for, but to care about To "Let go" is not to fix, but to be supportive To "Let go" is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being To "Let go" is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own destinies To "Let go" is not to be protective, it’s to permit another to face reality To "Let go" is not to deny, but to accept To "Let go" is not to nag, scold or argue, but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them To "Let go" is not to adjust everything to my desires but to take each day as it comes, and cherish myself in it. To "Let go" is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future To "Let go" is to fear less and love more Isn't that cool? ;D

Awesome Stuff Jaz Green DogRead Each One Carefully & Think About It For A Second or Two! 1. No man or woman is worth your tears, & the one who is, won't make you cry 2. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. 3. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand & touches your heart. 4. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them. 5. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile. 6. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. 7. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you. 8. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be greatful. 9. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened. 10. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting & just be more careful about who you trust next time around. 11. Make yourself a better person & know who you are before you try & know someone else & expect them to know you. 12. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to. 13. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll still land among the stars. ;D 14. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic! 15. When you were born, everyone around you was smiling & you were crying. Live your life so that when you die, you're smiling & everyone around you is crying. REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON. Happiness is only in your heart so Love yourself & you will always have Peace ... You have been Tagged by the Green Dog! ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_) ruff!!!!!! You will Have Good Luck For Two Years if you pass this to your friends/loved one's

Every ending has a new beginning Every beginning has a new ending The vibrancy of the beginning Is contrast to the stillness of the ending. What is new is made old What is old is made new Where there is joy there is sorrow Where there is sorrow there is joy. Where there is complexity There exists simplicity For in life there are no endings Just many new beginnings.
