FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT DIGITAL PAINTBALL: When Will dpb X.X Be Released?
Every time we get asked this question, an angel dies. The answer, however, is when its done. We are currently working very hard to make that sometime soon, but we CAN NOT give you definite dates. DO NOT ask us .
What Is Digital Paintball?
Digital Paintball is a modification for the first person shooter Half-Life. It closely resembles a day out at your local paintball field, with features such as real markers, real equipment, physics, and much more. More can be found about the game on the about page, accessible from the navigation panel. How does one obtain Digital Paintball? Digital Paintball can be downloaded free from www.digitalpaintball.net/?site=1&page=download.
What Do I Need In Order To Play Digital Paintball?
To play Digital Paintball you will need Half-Life or Counter-Strike Retail. Both of these will need the latest updates in order to play the game (v1.1.1.0 for Half-Life, v1.0.0.5 for Counter-Strike). Digital Paintball can also be installed to steam; check our forums for information on how to do this.
Who Are The Creators Of Digital Paintball?
The full list of the team can be found here www.digitalpaintball.net/?page=team&site=1 .
I Need Tech. Support, Where Can I Get It?
Our support (which we do not guarantee in any way) can be obtained in two ways. You can contact us, or post on our tech support forums. Both of these options can be reached via the navigation bar on the left.
Where Can I Get In Touch With The Team Members?
You can leave a message for them in the forums, or you can ask them questions on irc. Our irc channel is located on gamesnet, irc.gamesnet.net #dpb .
What Are Some Of The Future Enhancements To The Game?
The game will be expanded by adding more markers and more elements of real life game play to make the experience more true to life.
Does The Mod Have An Official Server?
The team has three official servers, two located in the US that is hosted by Amped Gaming and the other in the UK hosted by clan-serv.co.uk (212.42.13.242:27015).
Do I Need To Use The In Game Browser To Find A Game?
No, there are many third party programs that you can use to find a game, but you can also use the server listing on the Digital Paintball website.
Is The Development Team Looking For Any New Members?
The team is currently hard at work finishing up any current items that need to be completed for release, and they do not need any help. However, you may contact the team in advance of a future release as there may be an opening.
What Real Life Features Are Included In The Game?
Just like in real life, the game allows you to lean around a bunker while both in a crouched and standing position. In addition to this, real paintball physics have been thought over and implemented (how far the balls go, velocity, etc.). Another nice feature that DPB has is that server administrators have the ability to use a buy system of their choosing. Thus in essence, `run their field' as they see fit. Other than actual player abilities, the game has an enhanced net code that is optimized for Linux server DLL's, an integrated anti-cheat system, better hit boxes, and more.
What Markers Are Included In The Game?
Many markers that you would see players using at your local field are included in the game. These range from high end to low end, while creating an even playing field for all the players in the server. These include all the way from a WDP Angel LCD, to a Gen-E Matrix, to a WGP Autococker, all the way down to the lower end guns such as your Spyders and Tippmanns.
How Do You Obtain Markers In The Game?
To get a marker you must use the credits you earn. Using your credits, you choose a marker and any other extras you would like (such as an aftermarket barrel), as long as you have enough credits to obtain them. The amount is set by the server administrator and each marker varies in the amount of credits needed to `buy' it.
Do The Credits In The Game Act Like Money?
Yes & no, again it depends on how the server administrator has his/her server set up. Credits can be gained round by round, by marking your opponents, or not at all. Each server (field) will be different.
I Was Marked, How Long Must I Wait Until I Can Respawn?
On some maps you must wait until only one player remains and then everyone will respawn, but on others there is a variable that is set by the server; You must wait until it reaches that time and then you can become an active player again.
