Roses was created in 1985, when two former bands (Hollywood Rose and LA Guns) got together to become one of the best rock band in the entire music history. Their first album Appetite for Destruction, came out in 1987 becoming the most sold debut album with 20 million of copies around the world, no band had ever got that record before, and hits such as Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O?Mine or Paradise City were included in this record. At this time, Axl, Slash, Duff, Steven and Izzy formed the band.
In 1989 they released their second album Lies, which sold 5 million of copies, while getting in the charts with songs from the first album that had got to stay on for about two years. This album includes a version of the Aerosmith classic Mama Kin produced in 1973 in their first record.
Two years after, Matt Sorum came in to replace Steven Adler, as well as Dizzy. In 1991, two albums were released, called Use your Illusion I and Use your Illusion II, they both achieved to be on the top of the charts, number one and two. In order to promote the records they began a tour that lasted for 28 months, being the longest of the history, called Use your Illusion On tour from which two live videos were released. Songs as November Rain, Don't cry or Estranged (The trilogy) were the most broadcasted on the radios, no doubt, Guns N? Roses became one of the best bands in the world.
1993 was their last year they were seen together when released the Spaghetti Incident a remake of old songs they liked and wanted to version their way. This last album wasn?t as succesful as the others. A year later, a new version of the classic by Rolling Stones, Sympathy for the Devil was performed by Guns N? Roses and included in the movie Interview for the Vampire, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.
In the following years due to several problems and lawsuits the band has been involved and personal problems of the own members no records have come out.
After this period of time, no new material has emerged, just the song Oh My god? for End of Days soundtrack, and the band has suffered many changes inside itself, a new line-up has brought a breath of fresh air, and new sounds, really heavy and different sounds have been developed for their up-coming new album Chinese Democracy, rumored to be released on may 2001. Current line-up includes Robin Finck, Buckethead, Paul Tobias, Tommy Stinson and Bryan Mantia.

Birth Name: William Bruce Rose Date of birth: February 6th 1962 Birth town: Lafayette, Indiana, USA Instruments: Vocals, Piano In Guns N' Roses...: Vocals, Piano Influences: Elton John, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin
He took classical piano lessons and also sang in the Pentecostal church choir. He began thinking about getting a band together when he was 17 and joined a succession of local Lafayette bands on vocals, but wanted to be a rockstar and looking for notority arrived in LA , in a Greyhound bus, the experience of this living directly influence more than one future Guns N' Roses song. Once there, after passing lots of difficulties he got to form a band called Hollywood Rose, which joined L.A. Guns for a special gig. Elements of the two bands came together and formed the well-known Guns N?Roses.

Name: SLASH Birth Name: Saul Hudson Date of birth: July 23rd 1965 Place of birth: Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England Instruments: Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar In Guns N' Roses...: Lead Guitar Influences: Aerosmith, Mot?ad, AC/DC etc.
His mother designed stage costumes for David Bowie while his father designed record sleeves for famouse artists. He grew up in a variety of musical tastes. Formerly, he was part of Road Crew, the band he left to join Guns N?Roses in the Hell tour, that?s the way it got dubbed. After successing with Guns N? Roses , he?s solo projects have been pretty good, such as the two Snakepit albums, after touring with artist such as Alice Cooper or Michael Jackson.

Birth Name: Jeff Isbell Date of birth: April 8th 1962 Birth town: Lafayette, Indiana, USA
Instruments: Rhythm Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals In Guns N' Roses...: Rhythm Guitar Influences: Rolling Stones, Hanoi Rocks
Like Axl, Izzy left his hometown for LA as soon as the chance presented itself. Like Axl, he wanted to form a band and make it big. But unlike Axl, he already knew how he wanted the band to look and sound. Izzy had refused to participate in the band's expensive video for "Don't Cry" calling it a "...waste of money". In November of 1991 the rumour that Izzy had left was made official.

Name: DUFF McKAGAN Birth Name: Michael McKagan Date of birth: February 5th 1964 Birth town: Seattle, USA Instruments: Guitar, Drums, Bass, Vocals In Guns N' Roses...: Bass Influences: PUNK!
The Seattle music scene was at the time quite limited though and so, just 20 years old, Duff decided to head for LA. It was this move that prompted a return to the bass. Duff joined Road Crew in the spring of 1985, but pretty soon becomes a Guns N?Roses member, at the time that Traci Guns left. Duff would remain a member of Guns N' Roses until 1997 when he left and Tommy Stinson of The Replacements took over on bass.

At school, Adler met Saul "Slash" Hudson, an English-born rock fan who had moved to LA with his father, and the pair hung out together and formed a two-man outfit called Road Crew. Then, in the Hell Tour, he joined Guns N?Roses, and was one of the five members of the "Appetite for Destruction" record. His problems with drugs would make the other members fire him, leaving the band in July 1990. Later In The Years To Come Was Found Dead In His Apartment From A Heroine Overdose. The Date Is Unconfirmed, sorry.

Instruments: Drums, bass guitar In Guns N' Roses...: Drums Influences: Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, early Genesis
He replaced Steven Adler as Guns N' Roses drummer in 1990. Matt's first assignment with the band was playing in front of 125,000 screaming fans at the "Rock In Rio" festival in Brazil! . Since the set list for Guns N' Roses' live shows was determined on the fly neither knew what they were supposed to play until they had to play it! In addition to this, for the first time in his life, Matt had to conjure up a drum solo! Despite the lack of preparation, the show went well and Axl at least deemed the new lineup to be a success. Matt was officially a member of Guns N' Roses until 1998 when it was confirmed that Josh Freese had taken over as sticksman.
******************************************************
Name: DIZZY REED Birth Name: Darren Reed
Date of birth: June 18th 1963 Birth town: Hinsdale, Illinois, USA Instruments: Keyboards, Piano, Percussion In Guns N' Roses...: Keyboards Influences:
In April 1990 Dizzy contacted Axl. He was about to be evicted from his apartment and related the story, "Dude, I'm starving, as of tomorrow I'll have no phone, no apartment, no nothing, and if you guys need to know where to get hold of me, I can't tell you where I'm gonna be." Axl contacted Alan Niven (GN'R manager) and arranged for Dizzy to receive an advance so that he could get an apartment and for the contracts to be written up. Guns N' Roses had found itself a sixth member.
******************************************************
Name: GILBY CLARKE Birth Name: Gilbert Clarke Date of birth: August 17th 1962 Birth town: Cleveland, Ohio, USA
Instruments: Guitar In Guns N' Roses...: Rhythm guitar Influences: Rolling Stones, Aerosmith
Gilby Clarke joined Guns N' Roses as rhythm guitarist in 1991 after the departure of founder member Izzy Stradlin'. He had previously played with LA band Candy and then Kill For Thrills. Clarke played on the "Use Your Illusion World Tour" throughout the remainder of 1991, 1992 and into 1993. Izzy briefly rejoined in 1993 when Gilby fell ill but it was not a full fledged reunion. Gilby also played on 1993's "The Spaghetti Incident?", an album of cover versions and after making some outspoken comments about Axl Rose in the press. His replacement is longtime friend of Axl's, Paul Huge.

It was sad when the original drummer died from a heroine overdose. I can't remember his name off hand but it was a shock. I remember clearly the day that first release/video came on Much Music with the song " Sweet Child O' Mine"...
I must tell all Dungeoner's this...
I always sing the song by Guns n' Roses called
Welcome To The Jungle but instead was thinking of saying
Welcome To The Dungeon, but thought that was kind of lame and didn't put it in the Header ...Now you all know my little song I sing when I open this site
Paradise City is a rocker, November Rain is awesome! Etc Etc Etc...Too bad that Axel Rose (Lead Singer) has Bi-Polar nicer form/word for Manic Depression! Anyhow, this caused most of the breakup of the band - Aside from the fact that Slash (Guitarist) wanted the drugs/alcohol to slow down to better their creativity. Hmmmm well, supposedly last September 2002, Slash was said to have started up another band with most of the original members of GNR...Does anyone know which band that is? Where? When? The whole juicy scoop, lol.

SLASH says he is not one to stay around the house smelling the roses, so instead of gardening, he built a home studio nicknamed Snakepit. Matt Sorum, GNR drummer, came over, and he and SLASH started arranging some material SLASH had written. SLASH put on the bass and rhythm guitars, and then former GNR rhythm guitarist, Gilby Clarke came around and put in some new rhythm guitar. For bass, SLASH picked up Mike Inez of Alice in Chains, but finding a singer was difficult. 40 singers were auditioned before SLASH found Eric Dover, formerly of Jellyfish. SLASH and Eric worked well and quickly together with lyrics written the day vocals were recorded. In fact, all the guys worked easily together and experienced none of the heavy scrutiny they are used to when working with their home bands. In time there was an album. The Snakepit band name was borrowed from SLASH's studio. The album title, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" came from a bartender! SLASH was at an airport leaving for another GNR tour, and he wanted a drink but the signs said that no liquor was served there before 5 pm. SLASH asked for a drink anyway, and the bartender said....the album title! Geffen records agreed to back the album if the group name was changed to SLASH's Snakepit providing the new band with some name recognition. And that's how some rockers started out jamming and created a new band and a great rock album.
