I just want to know what everybody thinks on war?

Is it senseless destruction?

Does it serve a purpose in life?

What are your views on past wars etc.

Well, 1st of all, Vietnam was a cruel joke to send in the US Army the way they did. Nixon was a joke! Alot of ppl really liked him - give me a break. He caused alot of atrosities in his running time as President! Alot of coverups, etc...

US Soldiers were sent to their deaths. The Jungle wasn't in their prepartions! The jungle is Vietnams way of life and they laughed when the soldiers just kept coming.

A good friend of mine is in his late 50's now. He was a cook in the Army. He was on the good side. That's another thing...It was almost impossible for the US Army to know whom was on the good side/bad side. Women/Children were setup as suicide bombers. My friend has told me stories of torture, canabalism to survive, etc...I got first-hand info from a Vietnamese Person and I surely wouldn't want Any Govt. to do this again BUT I think they've cowardly done it again. Sending in the soldiers and going against the UN !

Yepa!!! It was something like 60,000 US Soldiers killed & 500 Aussies - GO AUSSIES. But anyway the Vietcong were just too skilled in the jungle and the Americans had to use that chemical........um (something orange) that killed the jungle. All it was is in that time - The American Government was trying to eliminate Communism and they didn't want to see Vietnam as a Commusnist Country since the Russians and the Chinese were supplying the Vietcong with weapons.

The Americans were just lacking the training to fight in those conditions - I mean has anybody heard of the battle of long tan?

100 Australian Soldiers were partrolling when they were ambushed by about........(I think it was) 3000-4000 VC. But with the Australian superior training they managed to only loose 23 Soldiers and killed over 1500 VC but the Americans should have never been involved in the first place.

If you ask me, I think they were just trying to show up the French since they also got their arse's kicked in Nam.

HELICOPTER PILOT CASUALTIES:

These are pilot totals only and do not include door gunners, crew chiefs or passengers. For every helicopter that was shot down, or crashed, there were at lest two more crew members that were exposed to the same dangers that killed the pilots.

SERVICE - KIA - MIA - TOTAL


COAST GUARD - 1 - 0 - 1

AIR AMERICA - 1 - 0 - 1

AIR FORCE - 39 - 2 - 41

MARINES - 198 - 5 - 203

ARMY - 1836 - 69 - 1905

NAVY - 30 - 0 - 30


TOTALS - 2105 - 76 - 2181

The US Army had the bulk of the helicopter war and the number of KIA and MIA show how much they gave to this effort.

I agree, TJ, sometimes wars are necessary. But the way some wars are fought are so dirty and many innocent people die (civilians and soldiers). Here in Europe, many people are against Bush and Blair. I'm not so black and white about it.
In Flanders there are many I and II war cemeteries. If you read the epitaths on the graves, your heart breaks. So many young men died, many of them so far away from home. The only thing I can do, is being thankful and respectful to them. They gave the biggest gift a man can give : their lives for our freedom.
If I was the Minister of Education I should oblige all schools to visit a war cemetery so that children learn how insane war is.

I nor anyone else ever has the right to kill and that's that! What about the mommy & daddy's in Iraq that had there son, daughter's etc killed by a bomb from USA, UK & say ohhhhhh it was sad that they were killed BUT we have to bomb 3,000,000 bombs to kill Saddam ? And only 10% of the bombs miss and kill some ppl that have nothing to do with Saddam! I ask you "what is 10% of 3,000,000? ? ?

You got the right to defend your Country but to start a war with another Country & say I did cause I wanted to defend my Country is NOT OK!!! Cos' that is what Adolf Hitler did & if you say that is OK then every thing Adolf Hitler did was right? ? ?

And probably no one in this Dungeon thinks that what he did do is right? ? ?

Ok first of all so you all know my husband was a Navy seal the men that go in and their families never know they are safe until it is over. I'm not trying to start a huge war in here but, I have one question?? If WE Americans are so hell bent and horrible.. why is it WE are always the one's called on to help others? Why is it our money that is needed to feed all these other countries? I'm not saying the war is right but, Saddam and his son's get a kick out of torturing there own people ( women and children alike). Now that we have freed them it's like any other time. sounds to me like you are just blinded by patriotism, something which is pretty common with americans, try asking a british man if he can sing past the first line of the national anthem he wont have a clue but ask an american and he'll probably break out the american flag and start singing away whilst crying patriotic tears of joy, which is just insane when you think about it, america isnt even your country, wheres the native americans or the "indians" as you call them, they are the people i really feel sorry for, its their country and they are in the minority, they actually have reserves for them because they are that rare

one more thing i want to add, remember that war film about a submarine that stole the enigma machine from the germans, it was an american sub in the movie, but in actual real life, american subs didnt gett the enigma machine, it was the royal navy of britain that got it, also the movies would have you believe america played a massive part in the war when actually they werent even in the war until a few years into it, also they want to make a movie about an american pilot that SUPPOSEDLY played a massive part in helping RAF batter back the luftwaffte in the battle of britain, but infact the real life american pilot who the movie is based on was a complete joke, he didnt shoot a single german plane down and died in a crash landing. the american public are bullcrapped into believing they have such a big bad nation but in truth america is still pretty young like a teenager showing off to the older more experienced peers with his bullcrap stories
